NEET 2023: The National Testing Agency, (NTA) is the organising body for NEET and it is instrumental in conducting NEET smoothly and fairly every year. The body is responsible for everything related to NEET, right from announcing dates to issuing admit cards and assessing the answer sheets. 

NEET 2023 Participating Institutions, Reservation and Seats Availability

Once the NEET results are declared, every candidate is given an All India Rank (AIR). The counselling process then begins in which medical and dental undergraduate seats are allotted to candidates based on merit and their choice.

The Medical Council of India conducts NEET counselling for 15% of central institutes, state seats, and deemed universities. Respective state medical boards do the counselling for the rest 85% of the seats. In addition, each state prepares its merit list based on NEET-UG results itself.

NEET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The foremost thing you need to do as a NEET 2023 aspirant is to ensure that you fulfill the NEET 2023 eligibility criteria. You need to take care of many aspects – academic qualifications, nationality, and age. There are also many relaxations available for certain categories, so you may want to check if you fall under those categories as well. Here is a brief overview of the NEET 2023 age criteria:

  • You should be at least 17 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission.
  • The age limit is the same for all categories of NEET 2023 candidates.
  • There is no limit on the upper age for appearing in NEET 2023.

NEET 2023: Expected Changes in the Exam Pattern

  • Candidates will not need to present their Aadhar card to fill out the NEET 2023 application form. They can do so with any valid ID proof.
  • Students will be able to appear for the NEET 2023 exam in any of the two languages they prefer, in addition to the standard English language.
  • NEET 2023 scores will also be considered for admission to BSc Nursing courses.
  • Students from State Open Schools, NIOS, or private institutions will not be considered eligible to sit for the NEET 2023 exam.
  • Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will also be a part of the 15% All India Quota scheme.

NEET 2023 Admit Card

As per the process, candidates are first issued a provisional NEET 2023 admit card. It will only be considered valid if all the eligibility criteria are met. As per the latest update, NEET 2023 Admit card will be released one or two weeks before the exam. Here are the details that are mentioned on the admit card:

You should keep the admit card safe even after the exam, as you will need to carry it to the counselling rounds as well. Experts suggest that you should keep your admit card safe until you finally get admission to an institute.

NEET 2023 Counselling

Counselling for NEET 2023 is likely to begin in September once the NEET 2023 results are out. The admission process through NEET 2023 will be carried out in the following phases:

  • National-level counselling for admission in MBBS and BDS Courses conducted by MCC
  • State Level counselling for admission in MBBS and BDS Courses conducted by various state government representatives

NEET 2023 Cut-off

To qualify for NEET 2023, you need to achieve a minimum score, also known as the cut-off score. This score is specified by the NTA and announced on the official NEET website. The NEET 2023 cut-off scores will be released alongside the NEET 2023 results. Cut-offs differ from category to category. The merit list for counselling and admission procedure is based on this score.

Two main factors decide the NEET cut-off score for a particular year:

  • Number of candidates appearing for the exam
  • The difficulty level of the exam

NEET 2023 Answer Key

Not all sets of NEET 2023 question papers are expected to be the same. NEET question papers are coded, and once the exam is over, the NTA releases the answer key to all the sets of question papers. NEET 2023 Answer Keys are released around one week after the exam. The OMR response sheets of all the candidates who appeared in the exam are also uploaded so that there is transparency in the evaluation process. If you find any discrepancy when you verify your responses against the NEET answer key by NTA, you can challenge it for a fee of Rs. 1000 per challenge. You get a few days to file your challenges.
